One of the oldest songs on this album. From 2002...I've made a few finished recordings of it in the past, but never really liked any of them. With those, I felt the song was better than the recording. This version finally does the song justice (I hope).
lyrics
MORNING SKIES
What would you say to me/If I told you that I did not believe/That you were you?/What would you do if I told you/I'm drowning/I'm drowning/I'm sick and I'm dying/And I don't know how to please/Me, or you?/I need to find you again/So we can see things through/And I saw truth laid bare that day/The sickness that's eating me/The girl who lives so far away/Will come back to see my eyes/Brightening, like morning skies/What good would it do, my friend/If I hid all my problems/And dressed up my bad side/So that you would not know?/But what wouldn't I give, my girl/To hear you giggling/To see you smiling/When I look at you from below?/I need to find you again/We'll see how far it goes/And I saw truth laid bare that day/The sickness that's eating me/The girl who lives so far away/Will come back to see my eyes/Changing/
Brightening, like morning skies/Oh, how do I know/Where to go for to find you now?/Where do I go for the truth?/Or to see your face?/I can't erase/All the pain/When you just don't see/Girl, I can only be me/I can only be me/I can only be me.
